An update on Fenice for Twitter 4

Fenice for Windows
2 min readAug 26, 2020

Hello everyone!

In 2015 we’ve released the first version of Fenice, a Twitter client for Windows Phone 8.1. We’ve continued to update it for years and in 2017 we’ve released Fenice 4 with all the updates in between completely free.

We’re now hard at work on Fenice for Twitter 5, a completely new Twitter experience that we’ve rebuilt from the ground up to use the latest Twitter API & WinUI.

What happens to Fenice 4?

With this blog post we are announcing that this version will be retired soon. We will hide it from the store initially and we’ll prevent purchases completely after Fenice 5 is released.

This means that nothing changes for you if you own the app already (you’ll find it in your library) but new users won’t be able to find it in the Microsoft Store or purchase it.

You can continue to use Fenice 4 until Twitter discontinues the 1.1 API.

What’s next?

As you’ve seen from our Tweet, we’ll soon reveal more details about Fenice for Twitter 5. If you liked Fenice 4, you’re going to LOVE Fenice 5.

Fenice for Twitter 5 is a completely new code base that uses the new Twitter API (where possible) and WinUI. It will be a new app with a new listing on the Microsoft Store.

As a thank you for supporting us over the years, we’ll have a big discount for existing Fenice users.

We can’t wait to show you more!

Alessandro
