Spoiler: We think you’ll love it

Fenice for Windows

Hi everyone,

Today we are so happy to release the biggest update we ever made, Fenice 3.0 for both PC and Mobile. There are some very cool new things in this update as we wanted to address as many feedback as possible and bring the app to a new level.

Let’s take a look at some of the new features and improvements included in this version:

Brand new logo

As you’ve probably noticed from the big image at the top of this post, we have a new logo! Many of you wanted a new logo, we’ve hinted at this in the past, and now here it is. An update with the new logo is coming to Fenice for Windows Phone 8.1 in the near future.

Yep, we know it’s not a phoenix.

View tweet replies and quick reply

New tweet details page

You asked, we delivered. Fenice now displays tweets replies in the details page. You can also quickly reply to tweets without going to the full tweet page.

UI changes

New profile page UI

We’ve made some changes to the app UI in some pages. For example you’ll notice that the tweet page is slightly changed (was rewritten from scratch) and there’s also a new profile page that better works on big screens. Try to resize it and see how it changes to better fit all sizes!

Tweet page improvements

Same, but different

The tweet page is one of the most important page of the app and in this release we’ve rewritten the whole page from scratch. We’ve added some features I’m sure you gonna love like:

  • Automatically split tweets longer than 140 characters
  • The app will now ask to save a draft before leaving the tweet page
  • Windows Hello verification before posting a tweet
  • New way to attach images on Desktop/Tablets
  • GIF search (powered by Giphy)

Microsoft Band support

This update adds Microsoft Band support. To pin Fenice tile on your Band*, go to settings > notifications.

*Designed for Microsoft Band 2, could not work correctly with Microsoft Band 1

Push notification testing

With this update we’re asking for you help! We need you to help us stress our push notification server. How? Simply go to settings > Subscriptions and “buy” the free in-app purchase then enable push notifications in the notification page. We suggest you to disable the live tile and notifications as the server SHOULD update both in realtime. In this way you’ll test push notification for 14 days.

We do not guarantee this feature will be implemented, we’re still evaluating but we need to check how much load our server can support.

There are some bugs right now for push notifications, sometimes you could stop receiving notifications (but you’ll still get tile updates) and right now it requires some times before the server starts to send push notifications to you.

Bug fixes

This update includes so many bug fixes, here’s a small list of what we’ve fixed in this update:

  • Push notifications now open the correct page
  • Fixes some crashes at the startup
  • Fixes duplicated search results
  • Fixes an issue that could have resulted to duplicated tweets
  • Fixes “media parameter ID is invalid” error
  • Fixes a bug that prevented some users to remove profiles
  • Fixes an issue that could have made the app crash when trying to switch account
  • Fixes an issue when “switch theme automatically” is enabled
  • Fixes a bug that showed mistakenly some accounts as verified

The feature you wanted hasn’t been implemented yet? Don’t worry we’re probably working on it but just to be sure, send us an email or leave an idea on our uservoice.

We’ve just pushed the publish button so it could take a while before this new version is available to download.

A.
